Sports Drinks - Better than Water?

You know the summer is here when you are always thirsty. I know one of my personal faults is I do not drink enough water. Or perhaps its that I drink way too much coffee.

Drinking water while exercising is easy enough...I'm really thirsty. However, we know from science that its the non-exercising time that is the most important time to properly hydrate so that when you are ready to start exercising, you are at your best.

I find that adding small sugarless packets of flavor to the water help a bunch to get me drinking the right amount of water. Recently I found some great flavors in a huge variety that also provide some nutritional value. I always keep away from the sugar-loaded type...no good for the belly.

But, what about during exercising or during your match? Are the sports drinks good or bad? Go on over to About's Chemistry Guide and check out why sports drinks may be better to drink than water during your volleyball matches.
