The Problem with Nick

Follow me on:

If you didn't hear the interview that Nick Lewin did on The Net Live this week, you have to take a listen. You won't believe it. The show is over two hours long, so I'll save you some time - jump to about 43 minutes into the show to hear Lewin's segment.

In the nearly 23-minute interview with Kevin Barnett and Chris McGee, Lewin of RJSM (the entity that owns the AVP property) managed to lose even more fans as he evaded questions, pleaded ignorance, blamed others and otherwise seemed completely disinterested in the fate of the AVP.

During the short interview, which is carried live over the web, Lewin showed unreal disrespect for his interviewers and the audience when he put them on hold not once, but twice. All Barnett could say was "Wow." That sentiment was shared by all who were listening in.

I have to hand it to Barnett for putting Lewin's feet to the fire on some of his choices and the ultimate demise of the Tour, though Lewin immediately placed the blame on Commissioner Mike Dodd and CEO Jason Hodell when pressed.

Barnett asked the tough questions and followed up on some of Lewin's statements, but got very little out of the managing owner who seemed to be hiding a few things and seemed to get caught misrepresenting other things. But the level of Lewin's detachment during this interview is hard to express in words.

You just have to hear it. Then let me know what you think.

Hi Bev The reason Mr. Nick Lewin is so brash & rude is because his parent’s put the word out to him that if he lost anymore money on the AVP tour, that he would be looking for a job. I have to give it to him, he choose the better judgement & told the AVP that his personal money bags are now shut. So what could the AVP do but close down shop. It is not a wonderful story & the big loser’s are the player’s. I not talking about the top 4 or 5 teams, but the rest of the main draw players & the qualifier’s. The top 4 or 5 teams get to go to the FIVB Tourn. & if they are in the main draw they get the benefit’s of royally. If you are in the qualifier it is a different story because all the cost is yours. You need to build up points & meet the entry date on time to try & get into the main draw. Well that’s the story. Take care
