NCAA Women: Rough Week for UW

The previously No. 2 Washington Huskies have had better weekends. After a tough loss to Cal in which they almost forced a fifth game (UW instead lost 25-27 in the fourth) they had a lackluster performance against Stanford losing to the Cardinal in three straight.

The Husikies hit just .157 against Cal and .108 against Stanford, their worst hitting percentage as a team since 2008. Washington tumbled down the poll five spots to No. 7. Cal and Stanford each moved up two spots on the AVCA poll. Cal is back into the No.2 spot and Stanford is up to No.5.

Illinois remains in the top spot after beating Michigan and Michigan State. They had a little trouble with Michigan State though, winning in a five set battle. Despite having taken both No. 1 Nebraska and No. 4 Nebraska to five sets, Michigan State is currently unranked. No other major movement in the rankings this week and no new teams made the list. Here are your matches to watch this week.

Wednesday, October 19th
No. 23 Ohio State @ No. 9 Penn State

Saturday, October 22nd
No. 1 Illinois @ No. 4 Nebraska
No. 7 Washington @ No. 18 Oregon
