The UCI men's team enjoyed exactly one week in the top spot before getting knocked off by the previous No. 1, the BYU Cougars. In two matches in Irvine, BYU left victorious winning in three on the first night and five on the second. UCI fell back to No. 2 in this week's AVCA poll.
The biggest fall of the week goes to Long Beach State. The 49ers fell three spots to No. 8 after losing to USC in three and Pepperdine in four. The Waves rose three spots to No. 7 this week having also beaten CSUN in four. Defending champs Ohio State lost to Penn State in three straight sets and fall two spots to No. 10 this week.
USC will head to Provo this week to take on the No. 1 Cougars. No. 4 Stanford will get the team's first real test so far with matches against UCLA and UCSB.
