The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) will launch later this year with a single event at the U.S Open Nationals in Salt Lake City. The idea is to create a grass roots league for adult women and offer them a place to play after college.
USAV says the league may take time to develop, but it hopes that it will one day have up to 40 teams participating in different regions across the country. As of now, teams from regions including Arizona, Intermountain, Puget Sound, Iowa, North Texas and Florida are expected to compete. Teams from Columbia Empire, Delta, Chesapeake, Keystone and Southern are possible additions.
Many indoor pro leagues have come and gone over the years. This one is making an attempt at something new and a different model. It could be interesting.
