The FIVB Beach Tour handed out their end of the season awards to mark the official end to the 2012 season. Led by Kerri Walsh Jennings and Phil Dalhausser, American players ended up with the majority of the hardware.
Kerri took home more awards than anyone with a total of four including Sportsperson of the Year, Best Blocker, Best Hitter and Most Inspirational with her former partner Misty May-Treanor. Fellow American and silver medalist April Ross won Best Server.
All but one of the remaining women's awards went to Brazil. Larissa and Juliana won Team of the Year. Larissa won Best Defensive Player and Best Setter while Juliana was honored with Best Offensive Player. The only non-American or Brazilian to win an award on the women's side was Sophie van Gestel of the Netherlands who was named Most Improved Player.
Phil Dalhausser led all men with three awards - Best Blocker, Best Offensive Player and Best Setter. In a surprise win, Sean Rosenthal won Most Outstanding Player and he and former partner Jake Gibb were named Team of the Year.
Brazilian Emanuel Rego took home two awards: Sportsman of the Year and Most Inspirational. His countryman Alison Cerutti was named Best Hitter.
