NCAA Women: Rough Weeks for Minnesota and Pepperdine

By November 13, 2012

Follow me on:

Stanford remained the unanimous No. 1 squad in this week's AVCA Coaches Poll. The biggest fall this week went to Minnesota after a rough weekend in which they lost to two unranked teams, Michigan (0-3) and Michigan State (1-3). The Gophers fell four spots to No. 14 this week and will have to regroup quickly as they will take on No. 9 Nebraska on Friday.

The other two tumbles in the ranks went to Kansas State who fell three spots to No. 20 after a four set loss to Kansas and North Carolina who fell three spots to No. 25. Pepperdine fell out of the top 25 for the first time all season after losing to two unranked teams (Loyola Marymount and San Francisco) over the weekend. In the Waves place is Miami who spent just one week out of the rankings in the last five polls.

Eleven other teams stayed put in their rankings from last week and there were only three teams that moved more than two spots from their previous rank.

The matches of the week are in LA this weekend as Stanford will head south to take on USC and UCLA. Also keep an eye on the Oregon-Washington match up on Friday. Here are the rest of this week's matches to watch:
