Both the USA women's and men's beach teams won gold at the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit event in Trinidad. Summer Ross and partner Emily Day took out fellow Americans Tealle Hunkus and Tracylyn Weamer in the final.
On the men's side former USC standout Tony Ciarelli and his partner Will Montgomery beat a Nicaraguan pair in the final. Both gold medal finals went just two sets. Those same Nicaraguans, Gerald Umaņa and Henry Hernandez, took out the other American team of Weston Carico and Curt Toppel in the semis to avert another All-American final. But the second seeded USA squad made them work for it - the match went three sets and ended 18-16 in the third.
Carico and Toppel finished the tournament in fourth place after losing the bronze medal match in another hard-fought three-set heartbreaker to Trinidad and Tobago with scores of 27-25, 19-21, and 15-13.
The NORCECA Beach Tour will head to Panama this weekend and will end the season with an event stop in Aruba November 28th-December 3rd.
