Did the Geneseo Hazers Deserve a Second Chance?

OK, now that you have read about the allegations against the women's volleyball team at SUNY Geneseo, what do you think? Are you pleased that the judge showed mercy and let them off easy? Or do you think an opportunity was missed to make an example out of them? Weigh in on the poll below.

I think the question is rather, will future hazers learn a lesson from this? The answer is a definitive “no.” It has proved to be well worth taking the chance to have a little fun, at least at Geneseo, at least if you are female. This is the tragedy indeed.

(2) someone who knows the truth says:

The problem with this article (and most articles written on the SUNY Geneseo volleyball hazing case), is that many allegations cited are actually not true at all. It is a fact that several of the freshmen girls lied to the police regarding events of the night. (Most of the freshman girls were drinking heavily before the “initiation”, which is why the girl who went to the hospital had such a high BAC.) There’s no question that poor judgement was used, by all the girls, but the story that the freshman girls were treated so terribly is just plain false.
