USAV held an open tryout over the weekend which drew a record number of attendees to Anaheim. All counted, 240 women from 90 different colleges showed up for a chance to prove that they have what it takes to be considered for the national team, the A2 team or the junior national team.
The expected number or participants was 248, but some trips were canceled due to weather. Still, the 240 that did make it were 40 more than the previous record set just last year. As stacked as the women's Olympic team was in 2012, and possibly because of it, interest is high.
Though most of the women in the gym over the weekend won't get the chance to compete at the Olympics, the ever-increasing number of serious athletes bodes well for the U.S. talent pool in the current quad and possibly the quads to come.
