Ichiban
5L-ST

A nice alternative to the other great volleyballs. A great outer
shell gives it a nice feel and play. Its a little unforgiving when
it comes to passing but allows for a great floater serve. Durability
was along the lines of the Tachikara; however, the leather started to feel
a little rough around week 5. The ball is a little harder than most
and even calls for a lower PSI when inflating. Overall a nice ball
and worth checking out.
Inside,
the construction of the cloth layer was also very similar to the Spalding
with glue drips and random marks all over the inner surface. This
Ichiban had large dirty circle mark that indicates the ball may have sat
inside-out on a very dirty surface for some time. While this probably
does not affect overall play of the ball, it is testimony to the quality
of workmanship put into these balls. Even though the construction
of these two balls does differ some what, I would not be surprised if these
two balls were constructed at the same factory.
