By Matt McShane, Head Coach Junior Team

Coaches in front of the Arc de TriompheHello to all our fans from Paris! I have been elected to give the first installment of the daily journal.  I think I have this honor because I am one of the least jetlag-impaired.  It is 10:10pm local time (2:10pm MST) and we have now been up, with minimal airplane sleep time since yesterday morning, about 30 hours. The flights and airport experiences were all smooth except for Laurie, Kim, and Jenn Richards provoking a fellow passenger with their loud laughter.  All our flights were reasonably on time and all our bags arrived with us.  HooRay!!! As you can see from the picture of Scooter and myself, our hotel is about 200 yards from the Arc de Triomphe, a great place for us. A great first day for the Intermountain teams here in Paris.  We had a few things we HAD to accomplish today.  We had to learn to use the Metro subway system.  Success with one small glitch, at one stop not all of us made it on the train, but our host Tim Kelly got out and made sure the stragglers made it to the correct station. We had to all stay up until at least 9:00pm to adjust to the time change. A major success by all, and no complaints, even though all were walking through Paris after doing an all-nighter.  And we had to get some major sightseeing in.  Today is one of the few sightseeing days and we did a good job it.  Sainte Chapelle, the Notre Dame Cathedral (with an unexpected appearance of Quasimoto, the Intermountain Commissioner), and the Luxembourg Gardens and Palace.  The walking was great for us.  We wanted to get a workout in after the long trip and the sight seeing was great for this. We did have an unexpected pleasant surprise.  Lyndsey Phillips, who had sprained her foot on Monday night, spent the whole day walking.  She was a little stiff but she is doing her exercises and she is expected to be in our first gym workouts on Sunday morning.  The walking seems to have helped her rehab considerably. I am sure with today’s activities we will be acclimatized and ready to play and practice on Sunday.  The following journals will be by players letting you all know how and what we are doing.  I do apologize for any grammatical errors, my brain is now about done…
