Reduce Injuries and Increase Effort during the Pre-Season

A Final Thought

From Dave Cross, for About.com

I hope everyone has found this information useful. Believe me, I do not profess to know all the answers about our great game; but we have had a great deal of success in using the ideas described above in terms of staying healthy and preparing for the beginning of the season. For those of you who are new to us, I offer the following:

Our overall record over the past six years is 144-21. This includes four conference championships and three straight trips to the “sweet sixteen” at tournament time. Honestly, I don’t remember the last time we lost an opener, (knock on wood!) Our opener is usually a tough independent- last year we defeated a team that had reached the State (Final Four in Ohio) the previous year 15-6,15-7. They ended up reaching the regionals themselves last fall. Although I don’t keep injury stats, we have had very few players go down during the pre-season grind and overall we seem to stay very healthy compared to many of our opponents year in and year out. (I need that wood again!)

Good luck in the coming weeks to all!!
