Minimize the amount of spin on the ball. A good set will not spin at all.

Receive and release the ball with both hands equally. Using one hand more than another will cause more spin on the ball and may cause you to double.

Never let the ball rest in your hands. This is known as a lift.

Setting is a fluid motion, so minimize jerky movements. Practice often and you will get rid of any clumsiness you feel while setting.

On your follow-through, keep your wrists fairly close together. Do not throw your arms out to the side.
