In order to improve at volleyball you need time on the court. If you're really serious about the, you need lots of time on the court. No matter how much you love the sport, if you take volleyball and yourself too seriously you are likely to burn out.
Burn out happens when you get too intense about anything for too long. Suddenly, you've grown tired of the sport you used to love. You don't want to practice anymore, you're sick of your teammates, you just want to do something else, anything else.
Since a lot of volleyball is mental, once you stop wanting to be there, your game will suffer significantly. Your mind has to be in the game in order for you to be successful. So if at all possible, avoid burn out by doing what you can to keep the fun in the game no matter how serious your goals.
