Volleyball Strategy
  • Diagrams are drawn so that front row is pink and back row is blue with Setters, Outside Hitters , and Middle Blockers.
  • Circles , are positions before the serve, triangles , are after serve, and Yellow Triangles, are after returning the ball to the opponent's side of the court.

  • Rotation Three Serve

o Setters start in their optimal position

o Middle blocker, who is left front, sets up in the middle

o Outside hitter maintains correct position by setting up behind the middle hitter

o After the serve, the hitter moves immediatly to outside position

o In the backrow, the middle blocker serves from the middle and then immediatly moves into position.

    Rotation Three Receive

o Front row is shifted right to cover pass and allow setter better position.

o Immediatly after serve, setter slides to right front.

o If not invovled in the pass, the front row hitter moves to left front to hit on the strong side. If part of pass, hitter stays on weak side.

o The middle hitter stays for the pass, then moves up to hit.

o Backrow is shifted left to cover pass.

o Back row setter stays on right to cover blocks.

o Back row middle blocker slides middle and stays back deep for the pass.

o Back row hitter sets up for pass and remains for dink/block coverage then slides to right back.
