Bring
It Promotions is running their 2nd annual Women’s European volleyball
exposure tour January 10-24, 2000. As always, the participating players
include female players that want to play professional volleyball in Europe
after college, want to learn about the European leagues, or just want to
travel Europe in a top level volleyball atmosphere.
Bring It Promotions (BIP) is the
premier volleyball agency for American and other top players that want
to play professional volleyball in Europe or the rest of volleyball’s professional
world. BIP represents over 75 athletes worldwide, including over
50 players playing in Europe this season.
This year’s tour has a few changes.
They will be travelling with a handful of top collegiate coaches who’s
main goal is to recruit European players for the USA. The team will have
two principal coaches, Kevin Hambly of UNLV and the USA "B" Team, and Brian
Meyer from the University of Tennessee. However, there will be other
coaches that will participate with the team in some fashion. BIP
is happy to welcome tour director Cory Solomon from the University of Utah,
Beth Kuwata from the University of Denver, Meg Colado from the University
of Central Florida, and Robert Patrick from the University of Tennessee.
They may add another coach before our departure date as well…spots are
open if there are interested coaches out there.
They will also be travelling in a
full size coach with a professional driver rather than the vans they have
used in the past. This will enable the coaches to enjoy themselves
more (no driving) and will make the trip safer and more fun for the women.
It will also facilitate team bonding and making volleyball the #1 priority
of the trip.

Current Participants
All coaches and players that are
participating in the January Tour 2001 are asked to read through some of
the past journals of Bring It Tours – especially the Winter
Tour 2000. These are available from the Tour page of www.bringitusa.com
The more that you know to expect,
the better the trip will be for you and the journals do a good job of preparing
people.
The few things that you do need
to know before packing are:
-
Bring a sleeping bag and pillow just
in case.
-
Do not bring a hairdryer or anything
electric. It’s not as easy to change power as you think and it will prove
worthless. I will have hairdryers for the team.
-
Bring warm clothes. We will be in the
snow and rain on this trip.
-
Bring sweats for pre-game, etc. You
are provided with a uniform (2-3 jerseys and 2-3 pairs of bikers)
and a tour T-shirt but nothing else. You are responsible for sports bras,
socks, shoes, sweats, etc. You may want to bring a lot of socks and underwear
as we don’t get to do laundry as often as we’d like.
And some other info that you
might like to digest on the flight over:
1. European Volleyball
Rules: (we’ll go over all
of these in Europe)
-
Most all of our games will be 3 out
of 5, rally score to 25.
-
Net serves are
-
We will play with a libero and the libero
rules (we will go over these).
-
There is only 1 toss on the serve (w/
8 seconds)
-
A yellow card is a point.
-
The ceiling is out of play in Europe.
-
Kicking and most overhand contacts are
legal.
2. Tour Rules:
-
Play hard and win when you are on the
court.
-
If a coach asks you to do something,
please do it.
-
Look out for yourself AND the other
girls on the tour. This includes making sure that other peoples’ stuff
(including staff items, volleyballs, camera, etc) doesn’t get left behind.
This is a big problem on most tours.
-
Shower in the gym after games. You wear
"nice" clothes (what you’ll go out in that night) to the gym, change there,
and then shower after the game and go right to dinner. Welcome to Euro-volleyball.
-
Always have the tour mobile with you.
From Germany: 0177 360 5658. From other countries: 00 49 177 360 5658.
From the USA: 011 49 177 360 5658.
-
Getting separated from the group is
not illegal, it’s just your responsibility to get back to us. Try to stay
together.
-
Make an effort to meet people from the
teams and clubs we play. Make an effort to learn about Europe, Europeans,
and Euro-volley.
-
Be ready for anything and always be
positive. Have fun !
3. Journal:
We will be keeping a journal on this
trip. I will have a different girl or coach write each evening and we’ll
post it to our site every night. The complete journal will be there when
you get home. Keep in mind that you will have one day to write about.
