From the article: NCAA Sand Volleyball - A Good Move?
Proponents of sand volleyball say that it's inclusion at the college level will have little effect on the level of play in the indoor game. Do you agree? What Do You Think?
will sand hurt?
- Sand volleyball will help the whole sport. More exposure, more players, more chances to watch the sport. I say "Go!"

no it will not
- This will be great for the game of volleyball. The only problem I see is the budget of some of the schools (mainly CA.) The state of Calif. is in a deep budget cut for education. For the player's & this is only for women because this is a title 9. You need to bring the bch to the sand vb courts & the way is a waterpark. That way the school has a community playground for all their surrounding neighbors in the summer months. Just a thought, but where would we be without paradigm thoughts.

The best thing for the sport!
- It is about time the NCAA added this as a recognized sport. This will allow the atheletes to have another option to head into the olympics or professional sports without having to go international with the FIVB. I wish this sport was an ncaa sport back when I was in college!

Could Hurt at First
- I think it could hurt indoor vb at first because some of the players coaches were counting on may try to go over to the sand. Indoor may lose some role players. But it should become clear soon enough who has the goods to make it on the sand and people will realize its a harder road. With players specializing in one or the other earlier, it will be clear who's who.

A good move
- Yes they should! It might deter slightly from indoor for the first 36 months but the interest of the game can really rocket cause of the raw interest of outdoor and how it can booster both. If your going to do it market outdoor as Mens, womans and coed team play.............its awesome cause the two mix very well in this sport compared to most. Section 9 wouldn't be a NCAA issue........would it? VB is ready to explode when you can obtain sponsors "which you could" at the NCAA level the rest will rock.

It will not hurt.
- I officiate both Indoor and Beach. The sports are different and require different player skills. I do not see the development of sand volleyball impacting indoor volleyball in a negative manner. The addition of sand volleyball as an NCAA sport can only help the sport in all facets. I will look forward to officiating both in the near future. :)
